Planet of the Apes Slot Set For October Release

One of the most famous film franchises in the world will be applied to online gaming for the first time in history later this year, after NetEnt announced plans to release a game based on Planet of the Apes.

NetEnt has signed a partnership agreement with 20th Century Fox Consumer Products, covering the entire Planet of the Apes brand. Slots could therefore be developed around films such as Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and the upcoming War for the Planet of the Apes, but for now the focus is on the first game - Planet of the Apes - which is due out in October.

The Planet of the Apes brand originated from a French novel written in 1963, with a film adaptation arriving in 1968 which told the story of a spaceship crash-landing on a world dominated by intelligent apes. The movie spawned a host of sequels, television shows, books, comics and toys, and NetEnt’s Chief Product Officer Simon Hammon is confident the new online slot will be similarly successful.

NetEnt has created a number of other branded titles, including the recent Motörhead release, so the new Planet of the Apes game should be in very safe hands.
